The church: The village church, the current Saint-Basle from 1843. The original abbey, founded in the year 664 by Saint Nivard, was destroyed. Saint Basle himself lived as a hermit in the forest above Verzy for 40 years, apparently around the place where the abbey was later constructed. Only the strangely twisted beeches, known as les Faux, remain.
